Sisu and Synchronicity

Today after school, one of the new crew members started talking about her Finnish relatives. I took the opportunity to ask her if she had seen Sisu Is in the Heart this weekend. As it turned out, she had not seen it, but had heard about it, and she immediately started asking questions about it. We were two strangers, but after a short, lovely conversation, we had started to get to know each other. Our conversation inspired other conversations in the room, and so the work passed pleasantly.

This is synchronicity.

A 6-year-old child heard an open audition call at her school and talked her grandmother into letting her try out for the play. Grandma took the child to the audition, where the director promptly talked Grandma into reading for a part as well. Both were cast in the play. Three weeks of rehearsals ensued, during which I watched my friend (Grandma) fall in love with the play, the community it was written for, and the thrill of live theater. Her enthusiasm affected me, and so I attended one of the performances and then wrote about it in this blog. A very nice person responded to the blog, and the next day another nice person brought up a topic close to the theme of the play starting a second conversation. The play is in the air, and we are all discussing it.

Everything is connected.

Finland, a country that a week ago I knew nothing about, surrounds me. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.
