Time to Pause

One of the local grocery stores has taken a section of the produce department and turned it into a beautiful Halloween display. Pumpkins, apples, and corn stalks are artistically arranged with packages of chocolate candy tucked in the natural crevasses. Not many people “shopped” from the display, but everyone paused to gaze and smile at it. Halloween is coming, and we are oh so ready for it.

The temperature has dropped into the 40s (F), and the winds have a distinct chill to them as they come whipping across the lake. Leaves are starting to fall from the trees in earnest. The local weatherman cheered the overcast sky tonight as the means to keeping what warmth we have from spilling into outer space. He has predicted a few days of sunshine before the rains return for next weekend.

Ghost stories abound on TV. Tonight, the featured film was Field of Dreams. Yes, it is a ghost story, albeit an adult one. Another station wrapped up an entire week of the Harry Potter movies. What I have not been able to find are the plethora of ghost/paranormal hunting shows. It has been my tradition for many years to binge watch these. Where have they gone?

It is time to shop for the Samhain candles.

It is time to start training Little Max to participate in ritual.

It is time to create the stories of the future.

It is time to pause and admire the decorations, feel the cool air on your face, and dream of the ghosts who walk among us.

Blessed be.
